If you are someone with Green values. I need your help.
Why, you might ask, bother to fight when the Greens cannot win the constituency? Because this is a very special constituency, the constituency of David Cameron, party leader and possibly the next prime minister. What happens in our constituency will have an impact at national level – and on young Cameron D.
Many people in the electorate, decent people of all political persuasions, share Green values. In a safe Tory seat, such people will not feel that Cameron is dependent on their vote. There are votes to be captured from those who see little difference in the major political parties, who want to express their concern, and who want to keep the next Government honest. I intend taking so many votes from the other parties that they will think twice before using Greenwash to cover up yet more of the same.
What is needed. The aim is to put together a large team, ready to spring into action the moment the election is called.
A well-fought campaign requires lots of effort from lots of people. Campaign subagents in the towns and villages play an essential role. In their own areas, these campaign subagents will:
- find farmers who will allow the erection of posters
- identify supporters who will put up posters in houses and shops, and stickers in cars
- book parish halls, schools, and anywhere suitable for presentations
- find further support
Throughout the constituency, campaign assistants are required to stuff envelopes, canvass, deliver leaflets, find sites for posters, and attend polling stations.
If you think you can help, I am sure you can. Please let me know what you are able and willing to do. And if you have your own ideas for mounting a vigorous campaign, do let me know what they are. Thanks; thank you very much indeed.
